Rev. S.L. Blake was born in Carrollton, MS, the youngest of five children. He presently lives in Grenada, Ms. 

He is married to the former Catherine Cooke of Vaiden, MS. They are the parents of five daughters.

He graduated from Marshall High School of Carrollton, MS, Mississippi Valley State University of Itta Bena, MS, and Andersonville Theological Seminary of Camilla, Georgia. He has done additional studies at Delta State University, Mississippi State University, and Reform Theological Seminary of Jackson, MS. 

He is a retired educator.

He is the proud pastor of the Burning Bush M.B. Church of Grenada, MS, and Past Moderator of the Grenada District. He is the first vice president of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi.

He is proud of all the above accomplishments, but he is most proud of being a born-again Christian filled with God’s precious Holy Ghost.
